Foxtrot Café And Corner Store Opens In Old Town Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Foxtrot, a café and corner store, opened its first Virginia location in Alexandria Thursday.

The store is located at 701 King Street at the Washington Street intersection, replacing the closed Le Pain Quotidien. This is the 18th Foxtrot location nationwide and first in Virginia. It’s also Foxtrot’s first location with a two-story storefront. The 3,700-square-foot store offers mezzanine seating, shopping areas, and delivery service.

“We’re thrilled to continue our expansion in the DMV area with our Old Town Alexandria opening,” said Mike LaVitola, the co-founder of Foxtrot. “Alexandria is an active, vibrant and creative community that celebrates art, food and supporting local, which is what we’re all about at Foxtrot. We look forward to joining the neighborhood and inviting even more locals to dine and shop with us.”

Foxtrot has a café menu showing seasonal spring dishes such as the elote caesar bowl with romaine, roasted corn, pickled red onion, cotija, masa croutons and avocado caesar dressing; and burrata toast with toasted sourdough, apricot preserves, caramelized shallots, crunchy seeds, fennel and honey vinaigrette. Customers can also order café drinks, including the seasonal cherry blossom latte with housemade cherry syrup featuring rose, beetroot and cherry mixed with Vigilante espresso and milk.

Other offerings include grab-and-go grocery items, snacks, wines chosen by a sommelier, pantry items and locally-sourced items. Among the locally sourced brands are Dolcezza, Laoban Dumplings, Little Sesame and Whisked.

For opening day, the Alexandria Foxtrot location is offering free delivery at all DC area stores. The first 500 customers who visited receive a custom tote filled with Foxtrot’s favorite sweet treats.

On Friday, customers who order with the Foxtrot app can receive 50 percent off Foxtrot wines. On Saturday, customers who pay with the app between 12 pm and 2 pm receive $2 off a café or grab-and-go food item. Items must be $3 or more and exclude breakfast tacos and pastries.

Foxtrot is in the midst of a national expansion and intends to open over 50 locations in two years. Other local Foxtrot stores are in DC’s Dupont, Georgetown and Mount Vernon Triangle areas.

Hours for the Alexandria store are 7 am to 10 pm daily. Visit the store’s web page for more information.
